Your Guide to Teatulia Black Tea
WHAT MAKES BLACK TEA "BLACK"?
Black tea becomes “black” when the tea leaves are allowed to fully oxidize during the production process. You know how an apple turns brown after you cut it open and expose it to air? The same chemical process happens here. After the tea leaves are picked, they are lightly bruised so oxygen can interact with the tea plant’s cell walls and turn the leaves the dark brown to black color and help create the rich, malty flavor that black tea leaves are famous for.
HOW TO BREW
Teatulia Black Tea can be brewed from loose leaf tea, convenient pyramid tea bags filled with whole leaf tea, or easy-to-brew round tea bags filled with fine-cut tea leaves. For the perfect cup of hot tea (or glass of iced tea), follow these brewing instructions:
LOOSE LEAF TEA
Steep 2 grams (about 1 tablespoon) loose leaf tea in 8 oz. of just boiled water for 2 to 3 minutes.
For iced tea, steep 4 grams (about 2 tablespoons) in 8 oz. of just boiled water, then pour over ice.
PYRAMID TEA BAGS
Steep 1 pyramid bag in 8 oz. of just boiled water for 2 to 3 minutes.
For iced tea, steep 2 pyramid bags in 8 oz. of just boiled water, then pour over ice.
ROUND TEA BAGS
Steep 1 round bag in 6 oz. of just boiled water for 3 minutes.
For iced tea, steep 2 round bags in 6 oz. of just boiled water, then pour over ice.
Generally, the caffeine content in black tea is more than a cup of green tea and less than a cup of coffee, but it depends on the variety of tea and how it was processed. Teatulia Black Tea has about 50% less caffeine than coffee.
