Your Guide to Teatulia® Green Tea

WHAT MAKES GREEN TEA "GREEN"?

It surprises many people new to tea to learn that all tea (green, black, white, oolong, or pu-erh) originates from the same exact plant species—Camellia sinensis. It’s ultimately how the tea leaves are processed that defines how green tea becomes "green".

For green tea, the tea leaves are harvested from the Camellia sinensis tea plant and are minimally withered then heated—by pan firing or steaming—and dried to prevent too much oxidation from occurring that would turn the green leaves brown and alter their fresh-picked flavor. A brewed green tea is typically green, yellow, or light brown in color, and its flavor profile can range from grass-like and toasted to vegetal and seaweed-like.

HOW TO BREW

Teatulia Green Tea can be brewed from loose leaf tea, convenient pyramid tea bags filled with whole leaf tea, or easy-to-brew round tea bags filled with fine-cut tea leaves. For the perfect cup of hot tea (or glass of iced tea), follow these brewing instructions:

CAFFEINE CONTENT

Generally, the caffeine content in green tea is less than both black tea and coffee, but it depends on the variety of green tea and how it was processed. A cup of Teatulia Green Tea contains about 25% of the caffeine in a cup coffee.

WHAT'S SPECIAL ABOUT TEATULIA GREEN TEA?

Organic and sustainable: The Tetulia region of Northern Bangladesh is home to (and namesake of) Teatulia’s own USDA-certified organic tea garden. At nearly 2,000 acres, we’re proud that our tea garden is one of the largest of its kind in the world. We cultivate our green tea using natural farming methods that don’t harm the environment. And we package our green tea using environmentally responsible packaging, made from recycled and compostable materials.

Fresh-picked taste: To process Teatulia Green Tea, we steam the fresh-picked tea leaves from our tea garden. Steaming stops the oxidation process so that the tea leaves stay bright and fresh with a vegetal, grassy aroma. The resulting brew is light-bodied with flavors reminiscent of orange rind and sweet straw. It has a refreshing, cooling quality that makes it easy to drink all day long.
