Less Waste

Less Waste Packaging

Great-tasting tea that’s better for the land, its people and the environment—this is the mission that drives Teatulia®. It’s a mission reflected in every decision we make about our tea, including how we package it.

That’s why when we introduced Teatulia Organic Teas from Bangladesh to the United States we did it with a revolutionary new tea packaging solution—an earth-friendly eco-canister made from recyclable and compostable materials, all designed with less waste in mind.

Our revolutionary eco-canister packaging doesn’t just look good…it does good.

Crafted from post-consumer waste

Crafted from post-consumer waste, our eco-canisters are 100% recyclable to help reduce the amount of waste that ends up in our landfills.

Post-consumer waste is material that has served its intended use to a consumer, has been discarded, recovered from waste destined for landfill, and can be recycled into something new.

According to the American Forest & Paper Association, every ton of paper that is recovered saves 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space. According to the Environmental Paper Network, waste paper accounts for more than one-third of solid waste, and solid waste in landfills account for 34% of all human-related methane emissions. Methane is the second most prevalent greenhouse gas emitted in the U.S. from human activities and contributes to Earth’s depleting ozone layer.

Our commitment to use recycled content for our packaging helps save wood, water, and energy as well as cuts down on landfill waste and pollution.

No wrappers, strings, tags, or staples

To do our part in reducing landfill waste, we produce our convenient tea bags without the extra wrappers, strings, tags, and staples other tea companies use.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Americans sent about 167 tons of trash to landfills in 2013—that’s a staggering 915 pounds per day! Also according to the EPA, about 42 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions are created by the way we dispose of food products and trash.

By omitting unnecessary packaging materials for just our square paper tea bags, we’re able to keep about 10,752 pounds of waste* out of landfills each year.
